How do I Check Disk?

Go to My Computer


Click on your C drive once (to highlight it) then right click on it.


Go to Properties, then the Tools tab.


Click on Check Now, then check both box and click on Start.

A message will appear saying it will be scheduled to run after the computer is re-started. Click on Yes.


Restart your computer and check disk will run.

How do I run Defrag?

Go to My Computer


Click on your C drive once (to highlight it) then right click on it.


Go to Properties, then the Tools tab.


Click on Defragment Now

Then click on Defragment Now

What Updates should I allow to run on my computer?

You should always keep your:
Anti-Virus software of choice(usually Norton's Anti-Virus or McAfee's)up-to-date and your Microsoft Windows operating system up to date.

Otherwise decline requests to scan or update software you are not familiar with.

How do I delete temp (.tmp) files?

Go To Start, Search


Click on All Files and Folders

type in *.tmp for the file name

Click on More Advanced Options

Check off Search Hidden files and Folders.

Click on Search

Delete all files found. (Those with today's date may still be in use, and therefore won't delete.)
